Special Efforts to Engage Young Minds during COVID Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic impacted every aspect of all individual lives deeply. The majority of people were exposed new era of a virtual world for communication, day to day interactions, and academic classes for students. People tried hard to learn and follow the new normal life through online platforms.

Engaging children of Rural Rajasthan

Utilizing the opportunity for channeling creativity and innovation the organization scheduled to organize creative workshops for children of Rajasthan Bal AdhikarSarkshanSajha Abhiyan (DASHAM) network partners across Rajasthan. The workshop was conceptualized and executed with the support of Dr. Tabinah Anjum and the DASHAM network NGOs.

The workshops were focused on storytelling, methods of writing stories and poems, and the basic technicality of photography from their mobile/handset.

A total of 5 virtual workshops were organized to cover all seven divisions of Rajasthan with the support of 22 partner NGOs of the network that enabled the participation of 187 children.

Post workshops the children clicked photographs from their mobiles about nature, their houses, farms, and villages, and also composed poems and wrote their experiences during the pandemic in the form of short stories.

All these creative photographs and compositions were collated and published in the form of a coffee table book as “Meri Rachna Kitni Sundar”.

Engaging children in Urban Slums

Concurrently the in person workshops for the children of slum areas were also organized for engaging them in creative activities and positive learning during October to December 2020.

The major focus was on involving children in creative work including drawing, painting, and making articles from papers. The slum areas included Malpura village in Tonk, Manoharpura village, Gautam Nagar and Mundiya Ramsar slums in Jaipur.
